There is a place where something reeks or leaks all the time. A place where swarms of flies take shelter. A place where the scorching heat of the day leaves visible marks on the bare bodies. A place without protection or barriers.
That is the place she calls “home”.
Sanjana’s* story was no different from many other children surviving in the streets of India until she caught the attention of a couple of field workers of El Shaddai. Where others saw distress and hopelessness, these field workers saw hope and a future.
But it was not an easy road – disinterested parents, elders with doubts and suspicion – that’s what awaited these field workers.
But the hardships on the way were long forgotten when we witnessed the result: a child who attends school regularly, maintains good health and has a zest for life ahead of her.
Change is hard, especially when it is in the positive upward direction – against the grain. But being a catalyst to bring about change is not difficult when you have the resources.
That’s thanks to you – our supporters over the years.
You have made change possible.
This month, we celebrate the Joy of Giving – the joy experienced when you become an integral part of the transformed lives. We celebrate you!
We celebrate your willingness to go that extra mile to help. The extra drive or packing those clothes from your wardrobe or keeping aside a personal luxury or the laughter and time you gift those who need it.
We have so many stories similar to Sanjana’s but none would have happened if a lot of people decided to relax and take it easy.
It is up to each one of us to step up and make change happen and not wait to see another life fading away without having a chance.
Thank you for the joy you give.
