Adithya a cheery-faced lad and lives in the Verna House. He’s 11 years old and has been with us since 17th February 2014. But it has not always been this way for Adithya.
His parents migrated to Goa with the family, in search of work. They are a family of five children between the ages of 18 months and 11 years. Adithya’s father worked as a labourer but spent his earnings on alcohol. He physically abused the family, beating Adithya’s mother and the children in drunken fits. The drinks finally took a toll, and he passed away in 2017.
They are very poor and live in a hut by a garbage dump area. Foul odour fills their home, but they cannot afford to move to another better place.
Adithya’s mother works as a housemaid but often has to stay at home as she has to look after her five children. They are very poor and live in a hut by a garbage dump area. Foul odour fills their home, but they cannot afford to move to another better place. Adithya and his siblings were undernourished and were dependent on goodhearted people.
One day an El Shaddai field worker from Tremara Community Centre visited them. She sensed the plight of the family and suggested the mother admit her children into our El Shaddai Homes. Adithya and one of his siblings were admitted and welcomed into a loving home which offered them comfort, companionship, nourishing food, education and the possibility of a secure future.
Adithya enjoys playing games with his new friends in Verna House. Adithya has a sweet smile and is a fun-loving child who is enjoying his new surrounds. He attends Our Lady of Succour High School (Formal School). He needs continuous love and care.
