Shanti Niketan Centre for Learning, an initiative of El Shaddai, was established in 1999 in a small house in Saligao. It began with a vision to support children from economically vulnerable backgrounds through an approach that includes not just the child, but also their families and communities.The school was founded by Julia Matthew and later moved to Assagao, where it continues today as a space for meaningful, alternative education.We are a non-formal learning space rooted in curiosity, creativity, and a love for life. Children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, and take an active role in their learning while building strong foundational skills.Here, children engage with diverse perspectives, build meaningful relationships, and reflect not only on what they learn, but also on why they learn.
An NGO focussed on Education
Inspired by thinkers such as Bertrand Russell, Rabindranath Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi, Paulo Freire, and J. Krishnamurti, we aim to create an environment where children develop respect for life, think independently, and connect learning to their own experiences. Our focus is to provide a holistic, all-round education in a non-competitive and nurturing environment. We follow a non-formal approach that allows children to learn without undue pressure, while preparing them for future pathways through our SNS Plus programme when needed. We are mindful of nurturing emotional connection, sensitivity, and respect for others and the natural world. We also strive to create an inclusive space where every child feels heard and valued. Here, children engage with diverse perspectives, build meaningful relationships, and reflect not only on what they learn, but also on why they learn.

SHANTI NIKETAN SCHOOL
El Shaddai Academy has been giving the best education and achieving its aims through its educational institution called, Shanti Niketan School, Centre for Learning in Saligao, Goa which was established in the year 1999. The center was then shifted to Assagao. On 22nd October 2011, El Shaddai Academy opened its branch called First Steps Playschool & Daycare providing classes from Day care to Kindergarten under the proposed ICSE system.
The chain of learning centers are named under El Shaddai Academy and is expanded into schooling segments with the network of another five schools namely Blooming Buds at Karnataka, Tremera Pre-primary school at Chimbel and Blooms Preschool, Moira, Busy Bee Preschool, Mapusa and Butterflies Preschool, Succor.
