A childhood for children who have
never had one
The El Shaddai Charitable Trust is a registered, non-profit, non-sectarian and non-religious Organisation founded by Anita Edgar and Matthew Kurian 33 years ago. It operates in Goa as well as other States like Karnataka and Maharashtra working to implement the Child Rights Act (2003/05) for orphans, street children, and those from economically desperate conditions.
We operate six residential Homes, three Shelters, five Community Centres, a Destitute Women’s shelter, and a Destitute Men’s shelter. We also manage six schools along with Cottages for seniors who are pursuing University, College, Technical Education, Professional Training, or are working.
We also run Meals on Wheels, a daily free food distribution programme that provides Midday meals to around 800 poor & needy children & adults living on the streets and in slums. At Shelters and Community centres, we focus on adult literacy, vocational training, women’s empowerment and remedial coaching for school dropouts, helping them achieve financial stability and independence.
