Manula (name changed) along with her husband and three children came to Goa a few years ago with the dream of getting settled down and building a happy family. Soon her husband had a fatal accident which led him to lose his memory and he went on to abandon Manula and their three children leaving them without a father figure and a provider.

Currently, Manula lives in the slums of Arpora with her three children one of whom is physically handicapped. The unexpected and sudden disappearance of her husband had thrown her into an abyss of uncertainty. Leaving her no time to grieve as she knew she had three children to look after.  She started working as a dishwasher in a hotel and soon during COVID she lost her job. Upon hearing about her unfortunate situation, the El Shaddai staff were quick to provide her with the ration kit and sanitization products that will briefly ease the burden of providing her children with basic amenities. Many women like Manula are unable to survive the blow of uncertainty brought in by COVID. It costs only rupees 1500/- to provide one month’s ration to feed a family.
