El Shaddai Charitable Trust - Tremara center

Tremara Community Center is looking after 76 children every day running 1 NFS class. The Centre provides the children with milk and nutrition. There are 65 children attending the tuition classes regularly and 22 children attend the slum classes. Vocational classes around 15 children attending computer classes, 34  women attending tailoring classes, 12 women are attending the Mehendi classes being held at the Centre regularly.

On the 19th November the centre conducted the Prevention of Child Abuse Campaign in Panjim and conducted awareness programs in the slum, school and church.

Immunization campaign was conducted this month according to the schedule. A total of 109 children were immunized, IEC was done and the staff and the medical team were also able to give information on family planning .

This month the Centre conducted the weekly (every Saturday) OPD health work for the community people. Around 116 patients were examined by the doctor.

El Shaddai charitable trust - stepping stones

Stepping Stone Street Child Rescue Center has around 120 children attending. Children  come to the shelter every day for Education, food and for a safe place to rest. The shelter provides these children food, clothing, bathing facility and education. The Center also runs 5 slum schools in the different parts of Margao slums and construction sites. Around  110 children are given tuition class   according to their School Syllabus.

Regular Activities

This Month all the staff and children were busy conducting the prevention of child abuse campaign. The school going children had their Diwali holidays .

All the educational activities such as tuition and slum classes restarted from 22nd onwards. The staff at the shelter conducted the formal and non formal, nursery, literacy classes and   Slum school regularly.

Networking was done from shop to shop, Government offices, Companies and Industrial area to raise the funds for the Prevention of Child Abuse Campaign. From the 1st to 19th  the staff conducted different awareness programmes on the Street and Public places for the campaign

This month children had a Diwali break. School re-opened on 15th November 2016. The main highlights are Children’s Day Celebration, Interschool elocution competition, Inter school dance competition, Art workshop and Volunteer visit.

Children’s Day Celebration:

On 16th November 2016 we had Children’s day celebration. Program began with a welcome song by the teachers, followed by skits and dance. Students were excited to see their teachers performing on the stage. At the end of the program, Ravi and the team of members from Royal Assagao resort sponsored delicious lunch.  All the children had an amazing time.

Interschool Elocution Competition:

On 17th November 2016, English interschool Elocution competition for junior orator was organized by Lions Club & Leo Club of Mapusa at Emerald Lawns Parra. Topics covered were : How an elderly family member can be integrated into the family, women empowerment, should parent monitor use of internet etc. Kundan bagged the third place.


On 23rd November 2016, Shanti Niketan School organised an Inter school Dance competition. The dance styles were Western and Garbha/Dandiya and it was being organized for the children of Pre – primary and Primary level.  Miss Rolisha, extended a warm welcome to the jury for the dance competition; Mr.Agnel Dsouza – Manager at El Shaddai and Mr Siddesh Naik – owner of Born to Dance Academy were the judges.

In the Pre-primary section 2nd and 1st runner up were Dnyanprassarak Vidayalaya Mapusa and St. Michael’s School, the winner of the competition was Shanti Niketan.

In the Primary section 2nd and 1st runner up were Shanti Niketan School, Assagao and Janata primary School, Mapusa the winner of the competition was Saraswat Vidyalaya.


All the winners and runners up were awarded with a cash prizes, gift and with an Excellence certificates.

The program ended with the felicitation of the winners and vote of thanks.

Art Workshop:

On 24th November 2016, Renate Mennek and her team had workshop with the 50 children who are passionate for the Art. Children were taught how to paint by using their imagination and technique to mix the colours. Children painted beautiful patterns and showed their creativity.

Volunteer visit:

On 25th November, Mr. Banana and the team, entertained our students they gave a amazing performance showed different tricks how to juggled with swords, vases, hula hoops, they also performed funny tricks, danced with hula hoops and had humorous acts. Children extremely enjoyed the performance put by this team.



This month the centre treated an average of 55 children and helped them in their education also provided them with care.

Staff from Ashadeep Shelter visited the centre to conduct an awareness campaign on the Prevention of Child Abuse.


Since the children were on Diwali holidays there were no formal classes conducted. There were re – creational activities and games conducted for both formal and non-formal students.

Vocational training

There are 17 ladies who come to the centre for basic tailoring classes.


El Shaddai Charitable trust - Little acorns

Little Acorns Shelter offers facilities for non formal education for children tuition classes, primary first aid when necessary and one time nutritious meal. The shelter aims at admitting children into regular schooling and then supervising their attendance and educational progress.  The Centre provides the extra coaching through the tuitions classes. Little Acorn’s outreach activities include slum schools, Medical/Vaccination camps in the slum, Awareness campaigns and Manna Khanna distribution.

40 packets of Manna food was distributed regular for children to get one day meal over street and slum.

On 14th Nov Children’s day was celebrated to make them importance, one of the hotel Hyatt Place came and supported this event, we had cultural programme and some games for them, at the end snacks were distributed. 80 children and 5 staffs were participated in the event.

11th Anniversary of Little Acorns: As Little Acorns completed its 11 years, A small get together was held at centre with shelter children and their parents. The parents came forward and shared their experience with other parents about the centre and appreciated the work of Little Acorns, Also children performed dances. 87 parents and children were participated in the event.

The staff visited cobra vaddo slum since there are many children who needs first aid medical help, visited and applied medicine to the children and advice the parents to take the

Nursery/Non Formal class and  42 children attend and for the tuition classes 90 children are helped in their regular homework, preparation for exam and in their difficult subjects.


The lum School was conducted at the Cobra Vaddo with 33 children, Dessai Vaddo 10 children, Probe Vaddo16 and Dongerpur with 21 children attend educational as well as recreational activities are conducted for these children.

El Shaddai charitable trust - Dream center

In the month of November all the activities of the centre went on as per schedule. The staff visited different areas of the slum informing the people of the different activities of the centre as well as mobilized women and children for different educational and vocational courses. At present there are 35 children attending the  play school. The children are taught nursery rhymes, name of the color, shapes, numbers, coloring. They are taught a different topic every month

The children are taught to keep clean and how to behave in the society and at their homes they were also taught disciplined.

On 19th Nov third batch of tailoring class finished their Examination. The certificate will be issued on Christmas day. On the 21st November the Centre started Fourth batch of tailoring class and 20 women have joined this batch. They are being taught the basics of cutting and stitching of under garments, Frock, Churidhar, Blouse, Shirt and Pant.

The Centres conducts tuition classes in two places. One is in centre premises and another one is in Pallavan nagar which is 3Km away.In Pallavan nagar more than 35 children are attending the tuition classes.

On 12th Nov the staff of the centre conducted the Children’s day program at Pallavanagar. The Centre also conducted the Prevention of the Child Abuse campaign wherein the children walked around the slum carrying placards and shouted slogans to raise awareness on issues such as child abuse, child labour and child marriage, More than 125 children participated.

This month 202 children attended the different activities conducted at the centre. Formal school reopened on 14th Nov and is running smoothly. Regular field visits are being conducted in the different areas of Birla. Tuition and vocational courses have begun in sub centre

The Centre conducted different activities such as drawing competition as part of the Prevention of Child Abuse , Celebrated 14th November as Children’s day.  Celebrated Annual day of centre with a drawing competition and distributed sweets to the children.

The Staff and the Centre in charge organized a meeting with the  parents of the children attending the Nursery and KG I classes giving feedback on the progress of the Children to each child.

El Shaddai Chatitable Trust - Alberts goodnews center

Albert’s Community Centre conducts the Nursery and KG1 classes and the classes have  resumed  after the Diwali vacation. Coaching classes are being conducted in the morning and afternoon for 238 children .

During the International Campaign of Prevention of Child Abuse an awareness talk was given to all the children attending the Centre.

Regularly Field Work is being conducted around the Monte Dongar area and mobilization is being done for the vocational training courses of beautician and for the literacy classes.

Community visits were conducted and when necessary first aid treatment was administered to  the people.

On the 14th November the children’s day programme was conducted at Lohia Maiden Margao. 1000 persons were present. An awareness rally was conducted around Margao town so that people get the message of the Prevention of Child Abuse.

19 November was the final day event held at Panjim Dr. Ambedkar Ground, There was an awareness rally followed by the stage event. A magazine was also released on the occasion.

Chowgule College students worked at the Centre for a week. They helped in carrying out  the daily work and as well as they interacted with the children so as to motivate them to study.

El shaddai charitable trust - ashadeep

Ashadeep is a day care shelter that  looks after 65 children. It conducts both formal and non-formal classes for the children. Apart from studying there are also recreational activities that are carried out. Apart from educational classes conducted at the Shelter, the staff also  conduct slum school for the children. 80 students are given basic education through these slum schools.

The final day of the prevention of child abuse campaign was conducted at Dr Ambedkar Garden opposite KTC bus stand. The chief guest for the function was Mr Siddharth Kunkoliekar the MLA of Panjim. The campaign started with a rally and was followed by the children’s  cultural program. All through the campaign information sessions were conducted in slums and schools and many other general public areas like the market, the bus stand etc. Topics discussed were: What is child abuse? The types of child abuse ? What can be done in case a child is abused? Who to contact incase of emergency?  At the end of the programme the people were encouraged to ask their questions and interact with the moderator.


Since the children were on Diwali holidays there were no formal classes conducted. A lot of recreational activities as well as the practices for the dances for presentation at the prevention of child abuse were conducted.

Community health work

Community health work was conducted in Campal, Caranzalem, Tonca and Odxel. Basic first aid treatment was given and information on the shelter activities.

Manna Food on Wheel

50 packets of Manna food have been distributed in Tonca, Taligao, Campal for children and their women living on the streets.

El Shaddai Charitable Trust’s – The Little Acorns- Calangute , in Association with Goa Medical College Bambolim organised a blood donation camp . Invitations were sent to the local hotels enumerating the benefits of donating blood and requesting them to be part of the blood donation camp.

The donors included residents of locality, friends and benefactors of El Shaddai and staff members. The donors that  were found fit were happy to contribute in saving someone’s life and 33 units of blood was collected. The pride of participants was reflected on their faces while receiving their certificate. El Shaddai thanked each donor for their presence, contribution and good will.
