The Community development programme implemented through the Government Polytechnic Panjim under the scheme of ministry of human resource development conducted a two day self defense training program at the Shanti Niketan School. This was conducted keeping in mind the personal safety of school girls. This training helped to build a sense of self confidence among the female students. The training provided them the knowledge about various strategies to defend themselves in case of situations of violence and abuse. They also learned about the various steps that should be taken post such incidents. Therefore, self –defense training assisted girl students to become more aware of their surrounding and not feel helpless in any situation.


Little Acorn in collaboration with Country Inn Resort conducted a Medical Camp at Dongerpur slum with help of Dr. Vaibhavi Naik Colvale. This medical camp was arranged by Little Acorns and sponsored by Resort Country Inn Resort from Candolim. mc_agnc_sept_2016_img8Dr. Vaibhavi Naik with two nurses and Mrs. Joanna (Human Resource Manager of Resort Country Inn) with two staff were present. The doctor provided a  general health check up treatment on Blood Pressure, Eye, Ear and Skin. The staff of the Country Inn Resort gave a talk on how to  keep the  surrounding clean and how to manage the waste material. He also adviced the people not to keep any container filled with water open and out as it can create malaria or dengue.
Mrs. Joanna donated two First Aid Boxes to the Centre and distributed some clothes to the persons who attended the medical Camp.

El Shaddai Charitable Trust - Teachers day celebration

Teachers day celebration is commemorated to honour the teachers for their sincere effort in educating children. The programme began with the students welcoming the Teachers. The anchors for the programme were Saira and Sunita. A welcome song was sung by the students. The students bought a cake which was cut by all the staff and this was followed by some the children organizing games like bursting the balloons, musical chairs and a quiz.  The students found the experience really unique. Various dance performances were put forth by the students as well. Chocolates were distributed to all present .At the end the teachers thanked the students for organizing such a fun filled programme and for making them feel proud.

El Shaddai Charitable Trust - Hope Center

Kakkanjinagar is one of the slum areas located in Chennai and is inhabited by more than 3000 families and approximately more than 10,000 people. On 3rd September, 2016,  a new Centre was  inaugurated. It is named HOPE CENTRE. The Centre was inaugurated by the Area Sub Inspector. Also present were the Area Political leader, World Vision Area Coordinator, El Shaddai Charitable Trust – Trustee Adv. Thomas t Jacob, Local Advisor Mr Richardson, Local Church Pastor Raj along with children, teachers, and well wishers.
We are grateful to Pastor Raj who helped us in getting the place. Tuition classes are already being conducted for more than 70 children with two teachers taking the classes.
The Centre also plans to start a Computer centre and play school in the near future.
