Bethel Child Development Care
Adrahalli is a village situated in the Tehsil of Lakshmeshwar, in the district of Gadag. According to the 2011 census the village has a population of 577 families and a population of 3068 (1574 males and 1494 females).17.57% of the population is under 6 years of age. Literacy levels is lower that the state average of Karnataka. The sex ratio is also lower than the state of Karnataka average.
The El Shaddai Charitable Trust visited the village in the year 2008 wherein a need assessment was conducted. It was found that the children were not getting proper care and education. The first project we started was remedial classes for the children. This was organized after the school in the evening from 5pm to 7pm. We requested the college students to come and teach the children and they did so in their free time.
Over the years with our sustained efforts in educating the school going children we have earned the respect of the people in this village as well as the surrounding villages. The children now attend schools regularly and the parents in time have understood the importance of educating their children.
This is 8th year we are running this center. Our daily routine consists of classes from 7.00 am to 9.30am. We give them a bit of a snack before they leave for school. From Monday to Friday at 10am they go to school. On Saturday the schedule changes and we organize study classes from 1.00 pm to 3.00 pm and games from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm.
