Monthly Report (Victory House)

Around 60 children are residing at the House and are being looked after. During the month some of the boys have been moved to Shekinah House while some of the boys from Kathleen House have been moved to Victory House.
Children have been preparing for their first mid term examination during the month.Mock Fire drill was conducted on 22nd of the month. All the boys and the staff participated in the drill. The importance of a drill was explained to the boys.

On 15th of July a Health camp was organised. Around 90 children from the age group of 1 to 5 years received vaccination. The following injections B.C.G., D.P.T., Hepatitis B, Measles, M.M.R., T.T., Rubella and also O.P.V. oral were given.
On 24th July, a Health Camp on O.R.S. Day was arranged. A talk on Vector borne diseases Malaria, Dengue, Chikengunya, Mosquitoes Breeding and Personal precautions was given. Around 65 women were present. O.R.S. packets were given to all.

Regular Staff meetings were conducted. This month few new staff have joined us. Sunita has joined as a trainee In-charge while Ruth has joined us as an assistant 1.

Swanka attended the In-charge’s meeting held at Shanti Niketan. After the meeting, training was conducted for the In-charges which focussed on Effective communication, the training was conducted by Siddhi, the HR Executive. Shekar and Samay will be working with us as trainees.

A total of 48 children are currently residing at the House. Staff meetings were conducted regularly. Yamuna who is been working with us has also joined as a teacher at Shanti Niketan School.

On 12th July Anita was the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Chelwood Bridge held at Stanton Wick on the outskirts of Bristol.
Deidre Davies an El Shaddai sponsor and supporter helped Anita with the Anjuna Stall and £152 was raised.
The gentlemen at the Club were very welcoming and a very good evening was had by one and all.

After the summer vacation the children joined the kindergarten on 7th June 2010. It was nice to see the children get back to school. It was a sight to behold the children neatly adorned in their uniforms.
Anita presents slideshow and spends time school Germany where Andi Kolb teaches

A brief report on Anita’s visit to South Germany, it was during the last week of May. The first few days were in Kisslegg and she stayed with Teena and Andi Kolb where she spoke to several classes and showed slides at the school where Andi teaches. The afternoon workshops and the Spectacular Gala Night raised over €4000 towards Village Support in Karnataka.
HEALTH CHECK- UP OF BOYS CONDUCTED AT VICTORY HOUSE

The new academic year started with 65 children at Victory House. The children have by now shaken off the holiday mood and are now shifting their focus to studies. Two of our boys, (Ganesh & Rahul) are pursuing formal education at Candolim and are doing quite well. One of the boys, Savio, will be enrolled into the Montford Institute for skill based education which will equip him with skills to land a good job.
