PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TAKEN BY TREMARA TO PREVENT DISEASES

After the summer vacation the children joined the kindergarten on 7th June 2010. It was nice to see the children get back to school. It was a sight to behold the children neatly adorned in their uniforms.

A brief report on Anita’s visit to South Germany, it was during the last week of May. The first few days were in Kisslegg and she stayed with Teena and Andi Kolb where she spoke to several classes and showed slides at the school where Andi teaches. The afternoon workshops and the Spectacular Gala Night raised over €4000 towards Village Support in Karnataka.

HEALTH CHECK- UP OF BOYS CONDUCTED AT VICTORY HOUSE

 The new academic year started with 65 children at Victory House. The children have by now shaken off the holiday mood and are now shifting their focus to studies. Two of our boys, (Ganesh & Rahul) are pursuing formal education at Candolim and are doing quite well. One of the boys, Savio, will be enrolled into the Montford Institute for skill based education which will equip him with skills to land a good job.

HON’BLE CHIEF MINISTER MR. DIGAMBER KAMAT, VISITED STEPPING STONES AND DONATED AROUND 500 NOTEBOOKS FOR THE CHILDREN.

We are also deeply grateful to Mr. Digamber V. Kamat, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, who visited us along with Mr. Damodar Borkar, President, Goa Youth Congress, Margao Block & some other party members and donated 500 notebooks. They have promised to provide some more stationery & other items to our Shelter.

“MONSOON SOFTBALL CRICKET CUP” CONDUCTED AT SHEKINAH HOUSE GROUNDS

The Shekinah House conducted the “Monsoon Softball Cricket Cup” at the Shekinah House grounds. Four teams participated and gave spirited performances. Team India won the tournament.

Last month saw Shekinah house abuzz with the boys returning from their vacations. We have admitted 6 new boys and we now have a healthy strength of 41 boys. It’s great to have them back. New uniforms & stationary has been distributed to all the boys.

12 GIRLS CELEBRATE THEIR BIRTHDAY AT RAINBOW HOUSE

All our children have returned and we now have a total strength of 51 girls all enrolled in the Shanti Niketan School. New uniforms have been distributed to all the children and they look very smart when they go to school. 8 children from the House of Kathleen have been admitted to the Rainbow House. In addition, we have had 5 new admissions. The schools started on 9th June 2010.

VACCINATION DRIVE FOR DTP, POLIO, RUBELLA, TT WAS CONDUCTED FOR THE CHILDREN AT LITTLE ACORNS

We have a good number of children coming in. 65 of our children go to the Calangute Don Bosco High School, 7 of which are new admissions and were coached at our Shelter in the past.

THE HOUSE OF KATHLEEN WELCOMES AROUND 26 NEW ANGELIC FACES

House of Kathleen has been blessed with 47 angelic children. In all we received 25 new admissions while 8 boys were moved from HOK to Victory House and 7 girls were moved to Rainbow House. New raincoats, sandals, umbrellas, tiffin boxes, etc along with stationary were distributed to the children.

SINCE THE REOPENING OF THE SCHOOLS, 30 NEW CHILDREN HAVE BEEN ADMITTED IN THE ASHA DEEP THIS MONTH

A total of 116 different children visited the shelter in the last month with a daily average of about 55 children. Since the reopening of the schools on 7th June 2010, 30 new children have been admitted in the shelter. Non-formal education is being provided for 9 children on a daily basis during morning time and they do colouring, puzzles and other activities during free time.
