The Shanti Niketan School is one place where there is always something exciting happening. With the children around the centre of knowledge; activities, discussions and competitions are a regular way of life. The staff and the teachers at the Shanti  Niketan School believe in the overall development of the child, both body and mind. With this in focus there are plenty of activities that are organized by the school authorities which always draws a very good response from the students. (more…)

“Various activities at Shanti Niketan School kept the staff and children engaged during the entire Month of August.”

The month of August has been a month of intense activities and the school witnessed interesting events. Although it was raining heavily and wet, the staff of the school managed to conduct all the programmes as planned for the month. Almost all the children were involved in the activities and it is a joy to see the excitement and the interest generated from simple activities among the children. Various competitions marked the beginning of the month and Students were busy preparing one after the other; a time when they were getting prepared for short vacations too!

An Elocution competition was organised and the performance was based on the criteria of the speaker’s enthusiasm, delivery, strategies, informative and logical content and body language. Jupiter house was the overall winner with 75 points followed by Neptune house with 70 points and Saturn with 60 points. Mars house was placed fourth with 50 points.

The Children were also engaged in creative activities for an “Egg-Shell display”egg.jpg competition. Students from each class worked hard to collect Egg shells and with respective class teacher’s assistance, the students prepared various items on display, depicting the theme “We are all in this together”.

The ultimate winners were Grade VI and Grade I class. Grade VI won the prize in the senior category for displaying the theme of unity, with coloured eggshells placed on the handcrafted map of India. egg-2.jpgGrade I won the prize in the lower section for beautifully decorating giant grapes out of the coloured eggshells. Respective class students were given merit points and chocolates, for their creativity. The children enjoy this activity tremendously. (more…)

edit-9jpg.jpgThe fresh paint, landscaping and a handsome look to the school building awaited children, as the school reopened on the 5th of June, for the Academic year 2008-09. The Children were excited in meeting their new friends and staff. This year we have 78 new admissions and enlisted staff who have adjusted very well and are enjoying the task of imparting knowledge. We presently have a total of 242 children on the roll, supported by a staff strength of 22. (more…)

The Shanti Niketan School is well and truly ready for the academic year 2008-09

The Non formal school, Shanti Niketan, which was closed for the summer has had a lot of activity even though the school will officially be opened only in the first week of June. All the teachers and staff are back at the school preparing the syllabus and work assignments for the coming academic year. The Director has also had a very busy time with the new admissions. The children who have been given admission in the Homes of El Shaddai are also taken to the school for an entrance exam prior to admission in school. This is so that the teacher may know the grade that child has to be admitted to. Many of the parents and also the Home Incharges have gone to the school with their children and wards seeking admittance in the Shanti Niketan School.

The classrooms have been cleaned and arranged and also the charts and the study material has gone up on the walls and other assigned places. The stationery has been sorted out and arranged grade wise. The teachers and staff are now waiting for the most important aspect that will make the school have meaning….the children who are the students, who make teaching the best vocation.

The school closed for summer break in April. The teachers will prepare syllabus for the coming year and go on a well deserved break too

April signifies the end of an academic year as well as the beginning of the preparations of another. The first week of April was a very hectic one for one solid reason. The summer vacations were around the bend and children were excited about going home for vacations. The teachers and staff were busy with the corrections of papers and the yearly reviews. Progress report cards had to be prepared and submitted too. (more…)

The school has had an eventful month. Various activities kept students, teachers and volunteers on their toes. Some activities even took children and teachers out on day tours. The month ended with the second term examination.
At the top of the month the Nursery children went on a day tour of the children’s park at Campal. (more…)

The Gift Shop held in January ensuring presents continue long after Christmas

The school reopened on 3rd January after the Christmas break. It was a eventful season for student as well as teachers. It was also a time to rest awhile before the final stretch of school with all the examinations and activities.
