The month of September has been an excellent month on interesting happenings for the Children of the Home. They had holidays, games, visitors, donations and parties etc. Almost every day has special and novel with many children around. All our children go to school and when they come back they are full of stories of what happened in school. They are doing pretty well and the teachers are pleased with their progress. The staff of House of Kathleen are always ready to help any child needing their help. (more…)

In July 2007 Karen McIntosh and her son Mark, set off for Tanzania, Africa in an attempt to climb Kilimanjaro - an extinct volcano, 200 miles south of the Equator. It is the highest free standing mountain in the world with a summit of 5985m. Climbing Kilimanjaro is one of the ‘ must do ‘ challenges of the mountaineering world. Karen and Mark wanted to climb this mountain and in so doing, raise money for El Shaddai.
The exhaustion climbing the ascent was indescribable and certainly the most gruelly mental and physical activity that they had ever done. (more…)
April was hot and humid and we also had a couple of days of rain which only made the humidity unbearable. Despite the weather we have had ourselves a great month. The children have answered their exams and the results have come in. Our children have done extremely well. (more…)
For some fortunate street and orphan children, El Shaddai Homes and shelters have become a place where they can find love and caring in addition to the basics - food, clothing, shelter and good education.

It’s the festive season in India. Indians will soon be celebrating Diwali, the festival of lights. But while millions will exchange sweets and gifts, light lamps and lanterns outside their houses and burn fireworks in gay abandon, little would they know that their fun comes at the cost of hundreds of children, manufacturing fireworks in little neighbourhood factories, putting their health and lives at risk.
