The Diwali vacations were an added and welcome break from school and the daily routine of life. Some of the older girls assist the staff in the running of the home and also assist the neighbouring House of Kathleen in minding the smaller children. (more…)

The children enjoyed the month of October as children always do. The greatest joy is to that the children are too small to understand the turmoils of life and so sun and rain bring equal joy in their life. The care and love that is showered upon these small one only enriches the lives of all concerned, staff, management, visitors, volunteers and sponsors. SHEKINAH HOUSE: ASSAGAO.

The month of September has been a good month for Shekinah House. The children got a chance to spend about a week at home with their relatives for the Ganesh holidays. As always, they came back refreshed and eager to start school again. All our children are in good health and apart from the minor cuts and bruises, enjoyed good health all around.

Maxina, our volunteer visited the Home and taught ‘Action Songs’ and Craft work for the boys who enjoyed it and had lots of fun. We also had an inter-group ‘Story’ telling competition for the children and the boys made beautiful cards for the teachers on the occasion of ‘Teachers Day’. An in house Educational programme was conducted for the Children. A Workshop on Mentoring and Coaching was held for all the Managers along with staff who took active part. It was taken up by Col G Thomas, Gertrude & Mario.

Children’s Park at Shekinah House, donated generously by Sharon and Tony Freeman was inaugurated at the hands of Ps. Matthew. The boys were excited and could not wait to have their turn.

Parent of Umesh (434) and Abhishek (585) have begun 15 days volunteer service. We had a local family visiting the home and were very happy to meet the children. Managers of House of Kathleen and Rainbow House also visited the Home. Godfrey and Ashok checked on the maintenance work. Mr & Mrs Wuzor from Nigeria visited the Home and donated clothes and rice.

The staff at Shekinah House are gearing up for the tourist season when visitors grace us with their presence and good wishes. We sure hope more people will hear of El Shaddai and assist us to make the childhood of these children worth remembering.

The boys are looking eagerly to the month of October. Diwali vacations are also around the corner and the boys know that a lot of fun activities are planned for the same.
