Main Round up of August 2008.

img_0043.JPGThe monsoon this year has been heavy and engaging, with the temperatures low and pleasant. Inspite of the wet weather conditions, the Homes, Shelters and the School provided a comfortable environment for the Children, without any disruption in their School session and daily activities. All the Homes and Shelters are functioning comfortably with regular activities and competitions galore. The Purchases and maintenance is in full swing under control. Projects are progressing well. Visitors and Sponsors have begun to visit the Homes and Shelters. The school had a load of activities during this month. Events and competitions ensured that every child took part.

The 61st Independence Day was celebrated with gusto & fervour by the El Shaddai fraternity, by hoisting the National Flag and explaining the importance of the day followed by activities. Children presented a choreographed programme on the theme “Freedom Forever”; a maze of colourful dresses depicting the multicultural & ethnic community of our great Nation – “India”. img_0092.JPGOn this occasion, our children were invited by the La Mansion Hotel, Guirim. The performing group of Children received a gift for participating in the singing and dance competition. The staff of La Mansion also supported the function and all the guest winners donated their cash winnings towards the children of El Shaddai. We appreciate Mr. Tanavde (MLA) for an invitation to our children for witnessing and taking a ride in the 4D simulator at La Mansion, Guirim.

image066.jpgThe children answered their first term examination and a lot of additional attention was given to the children and their studies. We desire to see the children excelling in their studies and every effort to ensure that they bring in a good result. The number of children visiting the Shelters has gone up due to the recognition of the work we do, especially at Little Acorns in Calangute. The field work has diversified to new areas. Volunteers are seen at the school and Homes too. Various activities in the slums have been conducted to ensure that the children get their childhood, especially through education.dsc02088.JPG

The mid term Parents and Staff meeting was held on the premises of Victory House. Most parents attended and the members of El Shaddai were there to answer their queries. The month end is also the time of the Ganesh festival and many of the children went home.

We are now looking forward to the month of September; the upcoming tourist season. The Homes, Shelters and the School are gearing up to handle volunteers and visitors that are expected to visit us.
