SHANTI NIKETAN SCHOOL, ASSAGAO.

July has been an exciting month for the children of the school and since a month of re-opening the children have now almost settled down and are taking their studies seriously.

Interestingly, they had many surprises in store. The school leaders and assistants were elected through a secret ballot and the groups/Houses elected their captains and deputies. We congratulate the captains on their appointment and wish them the very best in leading their groups and Houses. The last week also saw the children answering their first month’s review.

sns.jpgAn “Art competition” was at the top of the agenda for the month, held grade wise and the topics were given keeping the general abilities of the students in mind. They also took active part in a workshop on “Abstract Art”, conducted by the well known artist Mr Deviprasad C. Rao, organised at the Shanti Niketan School hall; 19 students participated. A General Knowledge Quiz Competition was held to encourage and identify talent, among the 4 groups. Jupiter house was the overall winner with 70 points followed by Saturn house with 55 points and Mars house with 45 points and Neptune house in the fourth place. The other exciting event was the Gift shop wherein they had a wonderful time buying things of their choice especially the tiny tots enjoyed the bargain. Activities on card making, beadwork, embroidery, computers and paintings were carried out and the weaker children were given extra coaching classes by their respective teachers. A workshop on “Creativity in Lesson Planning” was held where 16 teachers participated very enthusiastically. A “reading system” was also introduced to encourage children to read maximum number of books in a month. A Table tennis coaching class has started for girls and boys of higher grades under the guidance of the P.E instructor.

All kudos to Julia Our director and her team for the outstanding contribution to build up the image of the school and for the creative ideas and plans. The school has 2 new additions to the staff Miss Kedika Naik and Miss Preeti Dhargalkar joined us in the month of July. We hope they will adjust soon and that the children will benefit from their experience and skill.

The upcoming month of August promises to be exciting with Elocution, Group Assembly, Speech and Reading competitions planned. The “Friendship Day” and the “Independence Day” celebrations will ensure that this month will be long remembered in the minds of the students and teachers alike.
