KILIMANJARO CLIMB - JULY 2007
In July 2007 Karen McIntosh and her son Mark, set off for Tanzania, Africa in an attempt to climb Kilimanjaro - an extinct volcano, 200 miles south of the Equator. It is the highest free standing mountain in the world with a summit of 5985m. Climbing Kilimanjaro is one of the ‘ must do ‘ challenges of the mountaineering world. Karen and Mark wanted to climb this mountain and in so doing, raise money for El Shaddai.
The exhaustion climbing the ascent was indescribable and certainly the most gruelly mental and physical activity that they had ever done.
It was for both a most rewarding, satisfying and exhilarating life experience. Many hours were spent obtaining donations and sponsors before leaving, and in total 3,500 pounds was raised for El Shaddai. Many people are to be thanked for their support, and in particular thanks to El Shaddai, as giving support to the charity made this journey such a worthwhile and purposeful experience.
