The school closed for summer break in April. The teachers will prepare syllabus for the coming year and go on a well deserved break too
April signifies the end of an academic year as well as the beginning of the preparations of another. The first week of April was a very hectic one for one solid reason. The summer vacations were around the bend and children were excited about going home for vacations. The teachers and staff were busy with the corrections of papers and the yearly reviews. Progress report cards had to be prepared and submitted too.
A fond farewell function was held for the children of tenth and twelfth standard students. These children have made us proud and very soon they would be answering their exams. The teachers, students and staff of the school got together and bid them adieu. Photographs were taken and good advice given and they were told not to forget the lessons that they learnt at Shanti Niketan School. At the same function the best student from each class was also honoured at the “Honour Roll” with a certificate of Merit and a special prize.
The Shanti Niketan school was the venue for the Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) Teachers Training Workshop from 7th to 11th April 2008. 21 individuals from all over India attended this training and successfully completed the strenuous training. The faculty was from A.C.E. Europe and consisted of Mr Arthur Roderick, Ms Bridget Boulton, Mr Lionel Boulton and Mr Philip White. Staff from Homes and office also helped out to make this training a success.
Entire staff of the school went on a one day staff enrichment programme to Hotel Goan Heritage at Candolim. They met all the other staff of the Homes, Shelters, office and the Management and their families. Everybody had a great time of fun and frolic. The rest of the month was spent by the teachers getting material ready for the coming academic year. The teachers too will soon go on a well deserved break. Another year comes to a close and another will soon begin and we hope to teach and touch many more minds and lives who come to our Shanti Niketan School.
