Our girls have returned with excellent results. All our girls attending formal school have passed and gone to the next level
April has been a good month for the girls at Rainbow House. Holidays, evening walks, summer vacation, corrective surgery, excellent results in examinations, a day out for staff, board examinations and plenty of other activities have all added to the enjoyment of this month.
The Bi-Annual Parents Staff Meeting was held on 5th April and after the meet the parents came to take their children for the summer holidays. Children will spend a few weeks with their parents and guardians and return on 28th May in time for school reopening. The children from House of Kathleen moved to RH for the summer and also as HOK is being renovated and repaired. They are having a great time and specially enjoy spending time on the terrace. Many members of the staff too have gone on summer vacations.
Rosy Fernandes has joined the Home as an Assistant Manager. Lucracia formally took over the reigns of Rainbow House. Shilpa moved from Peace Haven for summer vacations and being a child with very special needs we are seeking admission for her elsewhere. The children enjoyed great health this month. Pooja and Sushma went under the blade for corrective surgery. Sushma has two more surgeries to go as her big toe is being reconstructed. Anitamother spent nights comforting them and administering painkiller injections.
All the girls going to formal schools have passed and moved to the next class. In fact two of our girls Sharu and Manjula have been promoted to tenth standard. This coming academic year they will be the first El Shaddai girls answering tenth through formal schools. We are so proud of them. Four other girls have answered their board exam through SNS and the National Indian Open School. They had to travel great distances to answer. All the other children have done extremely well in their studies. Our Rucha who is doing her B.B.A. has moved to Stepping Stones in Margao. She will undergo an apprenticeship training at TurboCam at Margao Industrial Estate.
Pastor Peter Cole entertained the children with plenty of juggling tricks. He comes every year and does a round of all El Shaddai Units and entertains the children as well as the staff. Sponsors of Pooja threw a party for the girls. This happened before they left for vacation and so it was the last party of the season where all the girls were together. Games were played and all had a fantastic time. Julia distributed cake to all children on her birthday. A two day sports camp also added to the fun of April. The girls all went to Peddem grounds and took part in the camp. The evenings were spent with leisurely walks around the village with staff. All staff went to Hotel Goan Heritage for a staff enrichment outing. They had a wonderful time and met the other staff of all the Units of El Shaddai. The children took care of cooking meals and cleaning on that day.
The month of April was good and we know May will be even better. The vacations are ongoing and the children who are with us are sure to have a great time. We hope and pray our children will come back safely to us and also many more who need our assistance will find love and care in our midst.
