Sian and Rhys Lewis the sponsors of Sharu 11 give a special party for the special girls of Rainbow House
March was a mixed month. We had examinations, holidays, picnic, Easter celebrations, parties and a couple of goodbyes. The youth service at church is attended to by almost all the girls as it gives them their kind of music and messages that are close to their heart. Maintenance work has been completed at the Home.
One of the happiest girls at Rainbow is Laxmi 70. She had applied for braces at Government hospital four years ago and was still waiting for a reply from them. Her prayers were answered through Anitamother who found a sponsor who paid for the braces and the accompanying treatment. She had four teeth extracted and yet she was smiling in-spite of the pain. When the braces were finally fixed on her teeth she was the happiest girl around. Her friends and the staff are happy for her. Four of the older girls are attending leadership classes at the office. These classes are taken either by Pastor Matthew, Colonel Thomas (Retd), Mario or Gertrude. Rucha and Priya both visited Turbocam Ltd. at the Margao Industrial Estate. All the girls attending Shanti Niketan School went on the annual picnic to Dudhsagar waterfalls. They all had a wonderful time. Two of our friends who grew up at El Shaddai an Rainbow House said goodbye. Saku and Rukma both left to be with their family. We wish them the very best and a fruitful life ahead.
We had plenty of visitors visit us and bless us with donations, stationery, clothes, sweets and chocolates and with their time. Many even taught us to make handicrafts and art items. Many a sponsor came to see his or her ‘Child’. Many of the visitors came to the beach to visit and shower our children with gifts and fruit. We also found many sponsors for the children of El Shaddai at the beach. Volunteers Pat and Katherine at the end of their stay here got all the children of Rainbow House, Kathleen House and the Rainbow’s End Cottage together for a small birthday party. It was Pat’s birthday and there were snacks, soft drinks and cake. We thank all our benefactors who have graced us in one way or another. May God bless you all.
The highlight of the month was Good Friday. The day was spent in prayer and Bible reading and study. That evening the sponsors of Sharu 11, Sian and Rhys Lewis gave the children a surprise party. Good food was cooked and served and they even bought a big chocolate cake which every girl enjoyed. Girls sang and played games. Sian was touched by the character and behavior of the girls. This couple has also raised funds for the Children’s Cottage Hospital. We extend our thanks to this lovely couple from Glamorgan, Wales. The children were so happy and it was a very special time for Sharu who felt very special.
The maintenance work has been completed and it has been decided that Rainbow House will remain open during the summer vacation. Girls are all excited about the vacation which begins on 5th April. The examinations have been answered and results will be declared later in April. Those who have no living relatives and nowhere to go will be with us and we intend to make these holidays memorable for them. We hope to touch lives through the love and care of El Shaddai.
