A variety of events made the month of March a splendid and memorable one for all the boys and staff
March was a different month and unlike any month we have had so far. Boys were deep in studies for the forthcoming final examination and at the same time had lot of activities where they enjoyed themselves and relaxed. To add to all that it even rained heavily bringing relief from an unusually hot summer. Activities at the schools and at Victory House made this month a flash. Visitors were plenty.
Floyd who is at VH has recovered pretty well from his tummy operation. He is now able to eat and play normally. His vision is still poor and we are praying that he will have his surgery soon to fix that. His sponsor came in quite a number of times to see him an brought him clothes and indoor games to play. He says his life has transformed tremendously. He says he had never imagined to be so well looked after. He thanks God and all the people who have been involved in his rescue, treatment and rehabilitation. The other boys like Babu Kale and Prasad were taken to specialist doctors and facilities and all recommended test and examinations conducted. Both of them are under treatment and we are doing all in our capacity to see that these boys have as normal a life as possible.
Our social activities this month were many. Pastor Matthew came in with some visitors and was impressed with the tasty food prepared. The visitors were glad that the boys were being well looked after. The sponsor of Ganesh 98 visited after three years and was shocked to see how tall and handsome her ‘child’ had grown. She wanted to do something special for VH and so she screened a movie and also provided the snacks and soft drinks for a party at the same time. It made Ganesh feel special and proud. Sunil’s sponsor Pam made a generous donation towards the needs of Victory House. Mrs. Sallie Tetchner who sponsors Akshay gave the boys a beautiful evening of Indian Classical music. She brought two musicians who played the Flute and the Sitar and they in turn entertained the boys and staff of Victory House. Hemant one of our former boys who is now into community sponsorship came and spent time with his sponsor Rosy Mary from Italy. Special arrangements were made for the two of them to meet and Ms. Mary was very pleased. Dr. Prasad who practices medicine at Vintage Hospital threw a party for the boys. Unfortunately he could not attend and sent his wishes and has promised that he will do something similar again and he will make it a point to be present. Many other visitors came and spent time with boys and played different games both indoor as well as outdoor. Many donated towards the needs of the Home.
In house competitions came to a close this month. Reading, singing, Kabaddi, Ludo, Memory Quiz, volley ball, Rangoli, Kho-Kho and Athletics. The year was a great one for all the children. By the grace of God we did not have any major emergency or accident. Our boys have done well in their studies and in other activities. We thank God for this wonderful year and pray that we will be able to reach many more young lives in coming years.
