Boys help him in his recovery. Dr. Ajith comes regularly to see him. Floyd is another addition to VH. He too is recovering from surgery. He was rescued from the streets and Anitamama as he likes to call her is on his case. Floyd is already showing lot of improvement. Another two boys who are also under treatment live at VH. The visitors have been a great help. They have donated loads of indoor games which the boys play and pass their time. Matthew and Anita have come countless number of times to check on the recovery of these boys.
Wendy Orton blessed VH with a home theatre system. She visited and two days later came with the music system. Boys enjoy listening to music and dance. The thrill of watching movies is something else altogether. Boys also received some basic home stuff. Sunil’s sponsor spent a lot of time at VH. She also celebrated his birthday at the Home. She distributed cake to all boys on his birthday. Boys in turn taught her how to play carom. Dickya’s brother Thakur distributed sweets, cake and even gave chicken on Dickya’s birthday. Maurizio coached the boys for over a month and donated football gear to the players. Agnel invited the boys of the Cottages for his wedding on 14th. They went and enjoyed themselves dancing. Pastor Mike and his family who sponsor Ninga visited and even attended the evening assembly. They also threw a party for the boys of the Cottage where Ninga lives. Boys performed dances and skits for them. Mike shared a verse from the Bible and encouraged the boys.
Krishna is our new long distance runner. He did us proud when he won gold in the 800 meters race and silver for 400 meters at Don Bosco’s School at Calangute. Manjunath won silver in 200 meters at the annual sports meet at St. Anthony’s High School. The football match played between Shekinah House and Victory House was won convincingly by VH. All the coaching of Maurizio came handy in defeating a determined team from Assagao. The Shekinah House boys however want another game against VH.
The coming month is a month of studies. Final examinations are fast approaching and so is Easter. The boys are busy with their books and want to do well in their school. The open session was very encouraging as it showed our boys improving with their work. We will do everything in our power to see that they get a good education through which they can change the circumstances of their life. The staff help them with the difficulties and encourage them. We are all hoping they do well and move ahead.
