Tony Freeman celebrates wife’s birthday with a grand party at Shekinah House
February came accompanied by very cold weather. The nights were chilly and boys found it difficult to get out of bed in the morning. We started a routine of physical exercises for boys and staff to get the blood circulating. We began each day by encouraging each other. Rain or chill we saw Anitamother almost everyday on her early morning walk with her dog Heidi. She always had a kind word for staff and children.
Nagesh has adjusted very well at SH. He has made friends and is even learning to read and write English. The move from HoK has done him good. He now finds himself among his peers and has shown he is a responsible young boy. Evenings have been spent being coached in football. After the defeat by Victory House boys the SH footballers are practising very hard for the return match under the careful eye of Joseph and Ram.
Mr. & Mrs. Freeman have been a great blessing to us. They have donated towards the purchase of many items like the home theatre system and the gear for the football team. Lately they have also contributed generously towards a park for SH. He wanted to surprise his wife, Sharon, on her birthday and managed to do so with a birthday party at Shekinah House. The boys danced and performed skits and dramas for her. We had games and cultural programmes. The children prepared beautiful birthday and thankyou cards for her and also a big banner saying, ”YOU ARE SPECIAL” Sharon was moved to tears with the love she received that day. Everybody had a gala time.
Other events were the colour day where the boys went to school in colourful clothing. 16th saw the teeth of boys being examined by Dr. Amber at the Vintage Hospital. Dr. Jaganath, a surgeon at GMC visited and donated 400 bathing soaps for the boys. Maintenance and repair work was carried out and now the Home is running one hundred percent efficiently. The football team travelled to Saligao to play against VH team. We had a great game but unfortunately lost. The return game is at the beginning of March and the boys are being trained to give the VH team a run for their money.
The coming month also signals examination and the test of the mind. Our boys are already deep in their books and staff help wherever possible and assist them. We do hope they do well in their examination so that a good education will come handy later in life to change their future into a brighter one. We are doing all in our capacity to egg them on in all the areas of their lives so that they will one day be achievers. We hope one day these boys will use all their abundant talents to better their own lives and the lives of the community they live in.
