The Gift Shop held in January ensuring presents continue long after Christmas
The school reopened on 3rd January after the Christmas break. It was a eventful season for student as well as teachers. It was also a time to rest awhile before the final stretch of school with all the examinations and activities. There were a lot of wishes going around and there was an atmosphere of joy and peace in the school premises. The buildings came alive with the sound of students.
The 8th and 9th were very special for students. The Gift Shop was opened and students redeemed points they had won to get gifts and presents for themselves and others. This helped continue the Christmas cheer. Almost all the items in the shop were taken by the students. Two days later they had another treat when Sujatha Noronha and Elaine Mendonsa, editors of ‘Bookworm’ magazine visited and gave a fantastic presentation on various kinds of books and literature. They also run a childrens’ library in Panaji. The children were enthralled by the presentation and learnt so much about books and improving knowledge through reading. After the presentation our students just could not wait to attack the school library which by the way is coming along nicely.
Other activities at the school were the Mathematical tables contest ad the Bible Quiz. Grades II to VII took part in the Maths tables contest and it was very closely fought. The quick fire round was amazing to watch as participants were going crackers with the buzzer. After a tie break the Group Saturn emerged winners followed closely by other groups. The Bible quiz likewise was a closely contested affair. Almost every question was answered. Scriptures were quoted word for word. Characters in the Holy Book came alive on the lips of our children. The eventual winners of the contest was Group Jupiter.
The outstanding students for the month of January were declared. We hope they continue the trend and also hope others will try and emulate the good example they have set. The names on the Honour roll were: Suryakant-561, Pinky Biddika, Sharavva Lamani-399, Raju Singh, Vijaya-406, Laxmi Hasper-126, Dickya Dodamani-288, Dilshad-85, Pamma Lamani-68, Nagappa Lamani-62, Dharmesh-317 and Priya Petkar-364.
This month was an excellent start to the New Year 2008. We have a lot of programmes, activities and contests planned for the coming month. We are sure that competitions like Spelling Bee, Project work exhibition, singing competition etc are all going to bring in a excited response. However the school picnic which is planned for then coming month is the activity that is going to get everybody excited. We intend to have a great month of February. We intend to make a very positive difference in the life of these children.
