A brand new music system ushers in the Christmas season

The month of December has flashed by with so many activities and celebrations that the boys are somewhat sad the year is drawing to a close. This month has been a very busy one for all. The first half of the month saw the children involved in school activities and the latter half was all about Christmas. Visitors were aplenty and some new staff too have joined the Home. overall the month was exciting.

The beach outings continued as usual and the boys have learnt to swim. They look forward to these outings eagerly. Plenty of visitors have come and spent time with the boys, many of these have come to know about us at the beach and Flea market. Tony & Sharon Freeman came to visit us and paid for a brand new music system for the Home. They ushered in the Christmas season for us. The boys were so excited and straight away dances were choreographed and songs were being practised for the Christmas season. We thank the Freemans for their generous contribution towards the Home and the boys. Martin Sherman the Podiatrist followed up with the boys who have foot problems. He is a special friend of Mallesh and we are always happy to see him. Cronio and Santan came in to conduct the Internal Audit and were very supportive of the staff. Laukesh is our new cook. Ibrahim is still based at the Home although he is now maintenance personnel.

The boys had a great month. They were busy with school activities like class days and study excursions. They have also sent hand made cards to their sponsors. The formal school going ones also took part in their school activities. Some of our boys went serenading at different hotels along with other children of the Trust. They helped to spread the joy and spirit of Christmas to many hearts. The latter half of the month was spent decorating the Home for the Holy season. Decorative lights went up. Posters and decorations were done in the Home and plans were drawn for the Nativity crib. There was a lot of activity everywhere.

The 20th saw our children having a gala time at the children’s Christmas party at the school grounds. They were amazed by the fire dancers, enthralled by the magician and took active part in the games. They enjoyed the programme and the sumptuous dinner topped with ice-cream. They also helped to make this party a great success. The cook of the Home also cooked food for the many children who came from afar. The boys will remember this party for a long time to come. Christmas day the boys began by wishing all and sundry a joyous season. Good food and plenty of sweets made the day special. Many visitors came to see and wish with lots of sweets. In the evening Pastor Matthew, Julia and Anitamother came in with gifts for the boys. The celebrations did not stop there. The whole of next day was spent with sports and other competitions. Surprise and spot prizes were given and the only time the boys left the grounds was for lunch.

This month and year has been a great one for us especially for the boys who have joined us this academic year. We are glad that we could help them and it is our great desire to reach out and make a difference in the lives of children at risk. We hope this coming year more children will be able to take advantage of the various services we offer in order to give childhood back to the child who did not have a chance to experience it.
