One of Anita and Matthew’s dreams became a reality in 2003 when Asha Deep, meaning Light and Hope, our first Day Care and Night Shelter was inaugurated. It has become a safe haven to hundreds of Street Children in and around the city of Panaji. Today most of the children attend school and the senior children receive technical training and employment through this Shelter. Food and love are the greatest services we provide and staff and children are always at the forefront of any ‘child related‘ rallies or ‘workshops.’ Our Fieldworkers who visit many slums have a desire to reach many more needy children. Thanks to their input within the slums, countless children come to us for food, medical attention, clothes or counselling.
The Shelter runs entirely on donations from well-wishers and supporters.
We need your help to support many more children who are in distress and at risk from physical and sexual abuse. We want to help every Street Child in and around the city and surrounding villages, to stop the forced labour of so many children and enrol them in schools so they will have a brighter future.
